Dr. Elli Kranzler’s famed selichot concert online for first time ever

It’s an annual event that draws hundreds from all over the region. Dr. Elli Kranzler, a legend of Jewish music and the chazzan at the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale performs a pre-selichot concert consisting of original compositions, interpretations of Carlebach classics and obscure tunes he polishes and launches back into the musical universe.

Usually, the following day, the questions, “Did anyone tape it?” hangs in the air, with just a few YouTube clips to satisfy those that missed it.

This year, however, the show was streamed live and posted to the Facebook page of The Bayit, the Riverdale synagogue started by Rabbi Avi Weiss.
