Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey is now the second Democratic senator to come out against the Iran nuclear agreement.
Menendez says the deal will result in the Islamic Republic being “flush with money” it will use to “to further pursue their destabilizing hegemonic goals in the region.”
Menendez continued: “We want the right deal and a deal that does nothing more than delay the inevitable is not a deal we are willing to make.”
Menendez, a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, delivered the speech at Seton Hall University’s School of Diplomacy and International Relations. He joins New York’s Senator Chuck Schumer in publicly rejecting the deal.
