About 200 people attended River Vale’s annual menorah lighting on November 30, which was sponsored by Valley Chabad and hosted by the Township.
This year’s program was held outdoors and included the crafting and carving of the huge ice menorah that was lit during the ceremony. There was a chocolate gelt coin drop from a River Vale Fire department truck, songs by the River Vale Elementary School choir, and a “Glow and Fire” show in front of the menorah, and traditional Chanukah snacks.
Rabbi Dov Drizin, the executive director of Valley Chabad, and Mark Bromberg, River Vale’s town council president, recited the blessings and lit three menorah candles.
Valley Chabad also led lightings in Westwood, Woodcliff Lake, Allendale, and Park Ridge.
