Are you ready for some Chanukah?!

Are you ready for some Chanukah?!

We are two days away from the eight crazy nights of the Festival of Lights and you know what that means! The return of The Big Lipowsky’s Chanukah Youtube Video Roundup!

Starting off the list this year is the Mormon melodist, Sen. Orrin Hatch. The senator wrote “8 Nights of Hanukka,” which is making the Internet rounds thanks to Tablet. Whether you agree with his politics or not, you have to admit, this is kind of catchy. Anybody else smell a Grammy?

Now, with Hatch writing a Chanukah jingle, you might understandably be a little confused this holiday season. Here’s a little primer on the difference between Chanukah and Christmas.

Chanukah is probably the most well known Jewish holiday but it can also be the most confusing. For example, just look at all the different ways to spell it. And here Telly from Sesame Street gets a lesson in how to pronounce it and play dreidle.

For those looking for a more upbeat version of the dreidle song, there’s Erran Baron Cohen’s video (he’s Borat’s brother!).

Next up is an oldie but goody for anybody still unsure what to buy for the mishpucha, the “8 Nights of Hanukkah.”

In case you thought Matisyahu and YLove were the only Jewish rappers out there, Chutzpah has a Chanukah lesson for you.

And of course what would Chanukah be without latkes? For the fourth year in a row now the Big Lipowsky will be competing in the Ma’adan latke eating contest at the Cedar Lane pedestrian plaza in Teaneck at 10 a.m. The menorah hat will make its annual appearance as well. So come out and cheer me on!

And for those who have not yet seen it, here is the Nefesh B’Nefesh Jerusalem flash mob dancing to “Hey, Chanukah.”

That’s it for now. Check back later in the week for more!
