Good news for sandwich addicts. Do you dread Passover, which deprives you of your regular bread fix? Do crumbly and crumby matzah sandwiches leave you unsatisfied, feeling like unleavened bread puts the sand into sandwiches?
Just in time for the holiday, a South Jersey deli has an innovative solution.
Elsie’s Deli in Haddon Township did not have the feast of unleavened bread in mind when it invented its pickle sandwiches, which feature deli meats and cheeses between the halves of an extra-large pickle.
But if you can find an extra-large kosher-for-Pesach pickle — or are willing to settle for finger-sized sandwiches that fit the finger-sized kosher-for-Pesach pickles imported from Kibbutz Yavneh — your post-seder sandwich hunger can be satiated.
