Mavi Marmara conspiracy theories
It’s three weeks after the Gaza flotilla and the conspiracy theories are starting to surface.
First up is this gem from Jerusalem Post. The leader of the IHH claims he has a hitlist of 16 people the IDF intended to assassinate on board the Mavi Marmara. And how did he come to be in possession of this list?
An IDF hit list of 16 activists to be assissinated “fell from the pocket of an Israeli commando during the boarding of the Mavi Marmara,” Yildirim stated.

Right. Because every soldier carries around a paper list of the people he’s supposed to assassinate as he’s boarding a ship from a helicopter at 4 in the morning. This is something right out of “Beetle Bailey” or “F Troop.”
Next up is a rumor floating around Israel that came to my attention yesterday. Apparently the thinking among some in Israel is that Greek tourism agencies – upset that so many Israelis and shekels were going to Turkey for vacation – secretly backed the flotilla in order to turn Israeli tourists off of Turkey and on to Greece.
What will they think of next?
