Let us support each other

Let us support each other

I am confused about your lead Feb. 24 editorial “The sad sound of silence.” What are you expecting? Why should The Jewish Standard be the “clearing house” for all ideas related to Jewish values? As chairman of the board of Ahavath Torah, I can assure you that we, under the leadership of Rabbi Shmuel Goldin and Rabbi Chaim Poupko, are focused day in and day out on Jewish values, midot, and acts of chesed. We are not alone. Just look at the D’var Torah by Rabbi David-Seth Kirshner of Temple Emanu-El in the same issue. It is totally focused on giving and the importance of core values. As Kirshner says “By giving and living generously we help others while enriching our lives in the process.” What we need is for all of us to come together and support each other in fostering excellence, engagement, and ethics in the Bergen County Jewish community and beyond.
