The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades will hold its 21st annual Play Fore! the Kids Golf, Tennis, Games and Entertainment day at Montammy Golf Club in Alpine on Monday, August 2. The full day of fun raises vital funds for children with special needs, allowing the JCC to offer a wide range of meaningful programs that help those children reach their highest potential.

The day begins with men’s and women’s tennis and both 9-and 18-hole golf games that include greens fees, cart, and caddy, on-course refreshments, and lunch as part of the package. People who are neither golfers nor tennis players can enjoy an afternoon of mah jongg or canasta; participants can play and enjoy lunch with friends or come as single participants. The festivities continue into the evening with a lavish strolling dinner reception (kosher, of course), complete with top-flight drinks; there are also prizes, raffles, and auctions featuring exclusive sporting event packages and one-of-a-kind dream destinations. New this year, to raise the bar on fun, the JCC is featuring comedian Johnny Lampert, as seen on Comedy Central.

2019 women’s tennis players, front row, from left, are Lindsay Till, Daryn Katz,
Jillian Somberg, Stephanie Cohn, Orly Chen, and Jacqueline Pollack. Susan Penn, Lindsay Fries, Julie Sheppard, Keri Friedman, Casey Halper, Stephanie Goldman Rosen, Tina Schweid, Erica Polavieja, Beth Rubach, and Lauren Nulman are in the back.

“The goal of the day is to share in some light-hearted fun with friends and family and to connect with a core JCC mission at the same time — which is to do our part to ensure that all children with special needs have access to important life experiences that not only bring them new skills, but make them feel included as valuable members of our community,” the JCC’s CEO, Jordan Shenker, said. “Our annual golf and games event helps us succeed in this effort, as we continue to draw new participants and reach new goals each year.”
