Closter’s Beth El welcomes new religlous school director

Anat Katzir has joined Temple Beth El in Closter’s religious school as its director; she also is the religious school director for Temple Beth Or in Washington Township.

Ms. Katzir first started to work at Beth Or as a teacher in 2012, when she and her family moved to the United States from Israel. She has taught at the religious school and worked with youth groups at Temples Avodat Shalom in River Edge and Sinai of Bergen County in Tenafly. She also has led educational initiatives run by the Foundation for Jewish Camping and iCenter Chicago.

She earned a master’s in religious education from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and is a rabbinical student at the Academy for Jewish Religion in Yonkers. She served two years in the Israel Defense Forces, and graduated from Tel Aviv University’s law school.

Anat, her husband, Ophir, and their sons, Yoel and Yinon, live in Tenafly.
