Teaneck support brings specialized MDA ambulance to Akko, Israel

Dr. Stanley and Charnie Waintraub of Teaneck have sponsored a new, specially designed Magen David Adom Mobile Intensive Care Unit ambulance, through American Friends of Magen David Adom. A ceremony took place in Akko, Israel, in August, as the MICU was dedicated in honor of IDF soldiers.

The MICU, the only one of its kind in Israel, was designed to pass beneath a low bridge on Ben Ami Street, allowing MDA teams to bypass the obstacle and save minutes when responding to emergencies.

“We are constantly working to reduce response times and further improve the rapid medical response provided throughout the city,” Amos Dadon, MDA’s Akko-Julis Cluster director, said. “The new MICU will assist Magen David Adom teams who work year-round, seven days a week, 24 hours a day, to save lives throughout the city and surrounding areas.”

According to Akko’s mayor, Ohad Segev, “The inauguration of Magen David Adom’s new MICU is important news for the residents of Akko. Adapting the ambulance so that it can pass beneath the bridge and reach every part of the city quickly and efficiently is a meaningful solution that in critical moments can save lives.”
