Talking about baseball in Wayne

Rabbi Brian Beal, left, and Ed Randall

Baseball historian and radio and TV personality Ed Randall talked about the game at Temple Beth Tikvah in Wayne on March 8. Mr. Randall spent seven years in minor league baseball as a play-by-play broadcaster and he pinch-hit as the public address announcer at Yankee Stadium for the legendary Bob Sheppard in 2008. Mr. Randall was treated for prostate cancer and founded an awareness and education nonprofit charity, Fans for the Cure. A portion of the shul program’s proceeds were donated to it.

Mr. Randall’s organization promotes prostate cancer awareness and focuses on testing to achieve early detection and the best outcomes. A team from St. Joseph’s Hospital brought prostate screening information for the program, which included a silent auction and baseball-themed snacks.
