A cappella song in Ridgewood

Tizmoret

The Tizmoret a cappella group performs on Sunday, March 22, at 6 p.m., at Ridgewood’s Temple Israel, to support the Academy of Jewish Learning (formerly BCHSJS). The premier Jewish ensemble blends Jewish melodies, contemporary Israeli music, and popular American songs.

Based out of Queens College, Tizmoret includes singers from colleges throughout the New York City area. Students from NNJA, Temple Israel’s Hebrew school, will perform alongside the Tizmoret professionals.

Musically directed by Daniel Henkin since 1996, Tizmoret has produced six CDs and has performed at many synagogues and college campuses, along with appearances at Merkin Hall, Symphony Space, and music festivals. The word “tizmoret” is the Hebrew word for band or orchestra.

Concert sponsors will be recognized in the concert program, with their name and wishes included. To preorder tickets, email Principal@BCHSJS.org.
