YU’s Holocaust in Lithuania speaker series begins this week on Zoom

Yeshiva University’s Emil A. and Jenny Fish Center’s online speaker series about the Holocaust in Lithuania begins on March 5 at 1 p.m. The series, a partnership between YU and Vilnius University, begins with author Silvia Foti, the granddaughter of Jonas Noreika, a.k.a. “General Storm,” discussing her book, “Storm in the Land of Rain.” Ms. Foti investigates the myth of a war hero, revealing that her grandfather, who was a vital part of the Lithuanian nation-building story, had been a virulent “Jew-killer.”

The series, with writers, thinkers, and artists from Lithuania and the United States, delves into what Jewish life looked like before the Holocaust and what Holocaust memory means today.
