YIVO’s free online course on Jewish food
The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research’s online educational series, “Shine,” launches “A Seat at the Table — A Journey Into Jewish Food,” a free course beginning May 1. The program explores the world of Jewish food, with an emphasis on the Ashkenazi table, and includes hundreds of never-before-seen archival objects, lectures by leading scholars, and video demonstrations of favorite Jewish recipes by renowned chefs including Joan Nathan, Michael Twitty, Alice Feiring, Mitchell Davis of the James Beard Foundation, Niki Russ Federman and Josh Russ Tupper of Russ & Daughters, Jake Dell of Katz’s Deli, Darra Goldstein, Liz Alpern and Jeffrey Yoskowitz of the Gefilteria, Lior Lev Sercarz of La Boite, Adeena Sussman, Ilan Stavans, Leah Koenig, and Michael Wex.
