Wayne shul helps frontline hospital heroes

Responding to a request to help from a nurse at Hackensack University Medical Center who wanted to get food and treats for her staff, Temple Beth Tikvah moms Randi London and Caryn Alexander brainstormed for a way for TBT families and the Wayne community to help.

With a few Facebook posts, the two women raised thousands of dollars for local restaurants to deliver more than 1,000 meals to local hospitals. A few weeks later, they joined a national initiative called FLAG (Front Line Appreciative Group) that brings together communities doing similar things. FLAG of Greater Wayne has fed more than 2,000 medical professionals and raised more than $65,000.

Another TBT member, Noah Sandler, a freshman at Wayne Valley High School, created a thank you video to front line workers using a virtual choir. It featured Wayne’s Mayor Chris Vergano, teenagers from TBT, and front line workers. It’s online at templebethtikvahnj.org.
