The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades held its 22nd annual Play Fore! the Kids Golf, Tennis, and Games day at Alpine Country Club in Demarest on Monday, August 1. The day raises vital funds that enable the JCC to continue to offer a wide range of meaningful programs and services to support children with disabilities.
In addition to golf and tennis, the JCC offered canasta, mah jongg, and a summer soiree with cocktails, dinner, entertainment, and auctions. The auction was the most successful in Play Fore! the Kids’ history; altogether, the day’s activities raised more $475,000 to support initiatives to provide programs, services, and scholarships to children with disabilities, who participate in a wide range of social skill and recreational programs, including JCC summer camps, that enhance their quality of life.
“Providing a continuum of inclusive experience for our children and teens with disabilities to support them reaching their highest potential is a core JCC mission,” the JCC’s CEO, Steve Rogers, said. “As valuable members of our community, these children need opportunities to learn and grow while enjoying the company of their peers, in an environment that provides the proper support to allow them to be successful. And we achieve this every day through programs that range from teaching independent living skills to sports, recreation, and specialty programs like art and music therapy, and with guided social skills experiences. Our annual Play Fore! The Kids event allows us to continually expand our services and help more children, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who supports it. We extend our thanks to all our generous sponsors, auction contributors, donors, and chairs who helped make this event such a great success.”
Presenting sponsors include the Kurtz and Spadaccini families, the Kaplen Foundation, and Tina and Mitch Lieberman. Michael Kollender, JoJo Rubach, and Barry Zeller are the founding co-chairs.
