Esther and Paul Lerer will host a pro-Israel Norpac meeting for Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) in Englewood on Sunday, March 8, at 6:30 p.m. Moran and Jack Halpern and Esther and Ben Chouake join the Lerers as the evening’s co-chairs.
Senator Cornyn is a member of the Senate committees on finance, judiciary, and intelligence, and chairs the Caucus on International Narcotics Control. He has visited Israel several times since taking office in 2002.
This year, Senator Cornyn helped push through Senate Bill S1, the Strengthening America’s Security in the Middle East Act, which the Senate approved by a vote of 77-21. This legislative package includes $3.3 billion in security aid to Israel, as well as the Israel Anti-Boycott Act and the Combating BDS Act. He was a co-sponsor of the Taylor Force Act of 2017, which calls on the Palestinian Authority to stop making payments to terrorists in Israeli prisons and to the families of dead terrorists. In 2015, Senator Cornyn introduced a Senate resolution welcoming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the United States when he addressed a joint session of Congress.
