Ramapo offers talk on restitution, reparations, and challenges
The Gross Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies at Ramapo College of New Jersey and the Rabbi Israel S. Dresner Memorial Library & Lecture Series of Temple Beth Tikvah in Wayne, join with sponsors — the Jewish Historical Society of North Jersey, the Wayne YMCA, and the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey — to offer “Restitution and Reparations: Past and Future Challenges.” The lecture, presented by Dr. Avi Weber, is on Monday, February 13, at 7 p.m., at the Wayne YMCA.
Avi Weber holds a Ph.D. in German social law and two master’s degrees in the legal field, one from Humboldt University in Berlin and one from Tela Aviv University in Israel. Since 2005, he has been on the Knesset’s Special Expert Committee for Rights of Survivors, and since 2008 he has been an external advisor to the Ministry for Social Equality in Israel. Dr. Weber focuses primarily on the Holocaust, both German and international compensation law, and the effects of the Holocaust on international humanitarian law.
