Park Ridge shul remembers Pittsburgh victims

At Temple Beth Sholom of Pascack Valley in Park Ridge, the communal “Day of Solidarity and Remembrance” was marked at Shabbat morning services on October 26. The community gathered to memorialize the 11 Jews who were murdered while praying at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh last year.

The speakers and visitors included Park Ridge Mayor Keith Misciagna, Westwood Mayor John Birkner Jr., Reverend Marc Stetzel of the Christ Lutheran Church in Woodcliff Lake and Reverend Larissa Romero from the Pascack Reformed Church of Park Ridge; shul president Len Levy and former president Andy Groh; the shul’s new rabbi, David Bockman; and Lindsey Roth, a 14-year-old student at Park Ridge High School who recited a poem she wrote in honor of her great-grandmother, who survived the Holocaust.

TBS member Robin Gottesman talked about the memorial plaque in the shul’s east wing that was installed in memory of the Pittsburgh victims, and she said that a framed 8×10 picture of the plaque will be sent to the Tree of Life Synagogue with a letter from the shul.
