Lynne Tammam displays the award she and her husband Nessim (to her left) received at the recent Ateret Cohanim/Jerusalem Chai dinner in Flushing. The organization’s executive vice president, Shani Hikind, is to Mr. Tammam’s left. Also pictured are executive council member Robert Koppel (on Mrs. Tammam’s right); and, in the back row from left, Ateret Cohanim chairman Mati Dan, Dr. Joseph Frager and Deputy Knesset Speaker Danny Danon.

Danny Danon, the deputy Knesset speaker, warned President Obama recently to “take your hands off Jerusalem, take your hands off of Israel.” Speaking at the 34th annual Ateret Cohanim/Jerusalem Chai dinner, Danon said, “President Obama is ignoring reality when he attempts to make a distinction between the objectives of Hamas and al-Qaeda. They are one and the same and we in Israel know very well that you cannot appease terrorists, but rather, you must fight terrorists.”

Referring to the likelihood that the Palestinian Authority will ask the United Nations in September to declare it a state, Danon said, “By using the U.N. to push for a state, the Palestinians are in violation of the Oslo accords. When the U.N. will decide unilaterally to vote for the creation of a Palestinian state, we will immediately declare independence throughout Judea and Samaria.”
