Marking Kristallnacht in Englewood
To commemorate the 81st anniversary of Kristallnacht, filmmaker and director Micah Brandt will present “Robbery of the Heart” at the Englewood Public Library on Wednesday, November 6, at 7 p.m. This program, in the library’s Mackay Room, is free and open to the public, and no registration is required.
The film follows Holocaust survivor Harry Weichsel as he, his children, and his grandchildren return to his hometown of Wetter, Germany, on the 70th anniversary of Kristallnacht. After the screening, there will be a Q&A with Mr. Weichsel, who escaped Nazi Germany along with his mother, Flori. His biological father died on the Russian front. His grandmother, grandfather, and uncle were murdered in concentration camps.
