To mark November as National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, staff and friends of the Kaplen Adult Reach Center at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades assembled the “Exercise Your Brain” team. They participated in theWalk to End Alzheimer’s sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter in Overpeck Park in Teaneck. The JCC team, looking to honor its caregivers, raised more than $7,000 in less than two weeks. The funds will support research, advocacy, and respite for families with loved ones who struggle with the disease.
“It was an amazing and inspirational morning and I am so proud of my teammates and everyone who supported our team,” Marlene Ceragno, the JCC’s Senior Center program and caregiver services coordinator, said. “We raised some serious funds in just weeks, and we are so grateful for the outpouring of support for this important cause. We walked for caregivers, who truly are the unsung heroes, and it was a memorable moment in time for all of us who participated.”
