The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades is starting a new season for pickleball — one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. Pickleball combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis; in the game, two or four players use wooden paddles to hit a whiffle-like ball over a net. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but the fun part is that it can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game that players can grow with. The JCC is offering the community the option to play this popular game in the comfort of its indoor gymnasiums, taught by master teacher Toby Silva.

Pickleball open play is ongoing on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The fee is payable in the gym during open play sessions. A pickleball beginner clinic begins on Monday, October 28. For more information, call (201) 569-7900.
