Lamdeinu’s spring semester begins January 23
Lamdeinu’s spring schedule of classses and programs, many on Zoom, kicks off on Monday, January 23, with Dean Rachel Friedman’s signature class, “Parshanut HaMikra on Sefer Bereishit: The Moral Trials of Yaakov.” The women’s class runs from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and includes chevruta preparation and an interactive shiur discussion.
Talmud study for women with Rabbi Gedalyah Berger begins on Tuesday, January 24, from 9:15 to 11 a.m. Rabbi Berger will explore “Talmud Pesachim Chapter 4: The Authorities and Parameters of Minhag.”
Rabbi Yitzchak Twersky, who specializes in literary study of Tanakh, leads “Revealing the Beauty of Sefer Yeshayahu,” a series for women and men, on Wednesdays, January 25 to March 29. It will explore Yeshayahu’s text and concepts. After Pesach, on Wednesday, April 19, Rabbi Twersky will tackle Mishnaic sources in “The Sages Behind the Saying: Pirkei Avot in Its Historical Context,” a shiur for women and men.
Women and men can join Rabbi Gedalyah Berger on Thursdays, beginning January 26, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., for “Hilkhot Tefillah: Frameworks of Fervor” at Lamdeinu. It’s an opportunity to explore tefillot and to prepare for the coming Shabbat’s Torah and Haftarah readings. Afterward, there’s a one-hour lunchtime shiur for women and men with Rabbi Daniel Fridman, who will offer “Parashah and Haftarah Pointers” from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
On Mondays, February 13 and 27, at 1 p.m., Rabbi Hayyim Angel will teach about Megillat Esther; March 6 at 1 p.m., he will address “Learning for Taanit Esther” with Rabbi Dr. Shlomo Zuckier.
Channa Lockshin Bob will offer divrei Torah and divrei aggadah at a “Learning for Chag HaPesach,” on Zoom, from Israel, on Monday, March 27, at 1 p.m. for women and men.
Lamdeinu’s annual Yom HaAtzmaut Celebration for Women is set for Wednesday, April 26, beginning at 9 a.m. Lamdeinu invites women to help with planning and participation, join for tefillah, Torat Eretz Yisrael, shirat Eretz Yisrael, Israeli movies and discussion, and more.
