The Jewish Historical Society of North Jersey will honor Joy Kurland for her contribution to the Jewish community at its annual tribute dinner, Tuesday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. The informal celebration, which will be at Temple Beth Rishon in Wyckoff, offers a chance to share memories.
Joy Kurland’s work in northern New Jersey included fostering intergroup relations, building coalitions, advocating for Israel, strengthening government relations, and promoting initiatives that contributed to enhancing Jewish community relations.
Throughout her career, she received many honors, awards, and recognitions for her contributions to the community from organizations including the Anti-Defamation League, Bergen County NAACP, the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey, Drew University Hillel, and Bergen County’s Brotherhood/Sisterhood Interfaith Coalition.
Ms. Kurland is a member and past chair of the Bergen County Human Relations Commission. She is the immediate past president of the JCRC Directors Association of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs. Ms. Kurland also is on the board of the Jewish Historical Society of Northern New Jersey.
