JLE marks Chanukah
The Jewish Learning Experience of Bergen County celebrated Chanukah at its annual Chanukah party in Teaneck on Sunday, December 25. Guests circulated between stations, participating in filling and decorating sufganiyot and making clay dreidels and candles. There was also live music, singing and dancing, a dairy dinner buffet, menorah lighting led by Avi Strauss, Chanukah trivia, and wearing ugly holiday sweaters. Attendees left with souvenirs, and children received party bags filled with candy and favors.
The annual JLE Chanukah party has been a staple of the organization for years. This was the first year that new JLE director Rabbi Jesse Shore, who took up his post in August, ran it. Rabbi Shore also sings and plays the guitar. Dr. Richard Seaman of Jewbilation came from Manhattan to play the keyboard and sing parodies of famous songs, with words adjusted to fit the occasion.
