Community Chorus dedicates concert to women’s issues

“We Shall Shine: A Concert for Women of the World,” the Teaneck Community Chorus’ winter concert, is set for Sunday, January 24, at 3 p.m., at Teaneck High School. The concert was inspired by the song “One Woman,” which was written for the 2013 United Nations International Women’s Day.

According to Steven Bell, the chorus’ artistic director, “These songs reflect a wide range of women’s concerns and passions.” Wes Matsui, the chorus’ music committee chair, added, “You can hear that women share the same feelings, whether they live in Jamaica, Jerusalem, or Jakarta. The Teaneck High School Concert Choir also will perform, and so will Kayla Harvey, Teaneck’s 2015 Teen Idol. The concert is funded in part by a grant from the Puffin Foundation.
