Chorus options for children and teens

Tzipporei Shalom, Congregation Beth Sholom award-winning children’s chorus, begins its new season on Saturday, September 7, at 10 a.m., during the Torah service at the Teaneck shul. Children in first grade and up who like to sing are welcome. There are no auditions, and rehearsals are a cappella, with no instruments. Parents are encouraged to join their children to learn more about the group. For more information, go to cbsteaneck.org/choir or email musicdirector@cbsteaneck.org.

On Sunday, September 8, at 1 p.m., HaZaPrep Bergen County, a Jewish preparatory choral program for seventh and eighth graders conducted by Carey White, will hold a rehearsal and open house at Beth Sholom. It is part of a network of HaZaPrep chapters nationwide. For more information, go to hazamir.org or email HaZaPrepBergen@gmail.com.

HaZamir Bergen County, conducted by Cantor Ronit Wolff Hanan, also meets that day at 1 p.m. with an open house and a rehearsal at the shul. There will be auditions by appointment the next week. The group, part of HaZamir: The International Jewish Teen Choir, a network of choral chapters throughout the U.S. and Israel, is open to ninth- to 12th-graders. Local chapters meet weekly, then join for regional, national, and international retreats, culminating in a festival and gala concert with 400 American and Israeli singers. For more information, go to hazamir.org or email HaZamirBergen@gmail.com.
