Auditions for singers, musicians scheduled at the Kaplen JCC

The Shirah Community Chorus on the Palisades, led by conductor Marsha Bryan Edelman, invites new members to join the chorus. Rehearsals begin Tuesday, September 6.

Founded in 1994 by Matthew Lazar, the chorus rehearses on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly. Membership is open to the public and no previous experience is necessary.

The JCC Thurnauer School of Music invites musicians of all ages from the tristate area to its ensemble auditions on Sunday, September 11, 11 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Call or email to schedule a time.

Auditions for the string camerata, led by Matthew Lucero, and the Thurnauer Symphony Youth Orchestra, led by Diego Garcia, are 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Auditions for the TeenTown Jazz Big Band and small combos for teens and adults, led by Debbie Keefe and Steve Johns, are 12:30–2 p.m. Auditions for chamber music ensembles (groups of three, four, or five) coached by Alexander Rees, are 2–4 p.m., and for the award-winning Young People’s Chorus at Thurnauer, led by Emma Brondolo, for children 6 and older, 4:30–5:30.
