25th annual basketball tournament has local teams

From March 10 to 14, 20 elite teams will battle it out for the top spot in Yeshiva University’s annual Red Sarachek Invitational Basketball Tournament, the country’s most prestigious Jewish high school basketball competition. Local competitors include teams from the Frisch School in Paramus, and Torah Academy of Bergen County in Teaneck. The tournament will bring together hundreds of student athletes and their fans from yeshiva high schools across North America for five days of competition and a community-wide celebration of sportsmanship and Jewish unity.

Marking its milestone 25th year, the tournament will include several surprises, including the attendance of Jewish Hall of Fame athlete Tal Brody, Israel’s first-ever Ambassador of Goodwill.

The tournament will be broadcast in high-definition video by the student-run MacsLive sports network.
