Rabbi Geoffrey A. Mitelman

Rabbi Geoffrey A. Mitelman, founding director of Sinai & Synapses, discusses “How Do We Talk About Science and Religion?” for Temple Beth Tikvah’s annual Rabbi Shai Shacknai Memorial lecture. Shabbat services on Friday, November 21, begin at 8 p.m.; dinner is at 6:30.

Rabbi Mitelman also is an associate of CLAL, the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership.

Rabbi Shai Shacknai came to Temple Beth Tikvah in 1960 as its first full-time rabbi; it was his first and only pulpit. He served there for nine years; he died when he was 38. The annual lecture in his memory began in 1971 at the suggestion of Rabbi Shacknai’s successor, Rabbi Israel Dresner, in collaboration with Rabbi Shacknai’s widow, Shirley Shacknai Freedman.

The synagogue is at 950 Preakness Ave., Wayne.
