In the wake of the horrific Madoff debacle, I would like, before the history books close, to publicly thank the Lappin Foundation, the Chais Foundation, and the Picower Foundation, all of which, as of this writing, had to close their doors due to the greed and hubris of an evil man.

Thank you to all the professionals and the members of the boards of these foundations, who tried – and succeeded – in bridging the gap between the “haves” and the “have-nots.” How ironic that, in their final act of chesed, they invested their money with Madoff to ensure a constant and even increased return on their hard-earned monies, all for the sake of more tzedakah going to worthy organizations.
