Born in Poland on February 5, 1933 to Shepard and Miriam, Murray immigrated to the Bronx with his parents and sisters, Pearl and Ann. Upon selling a gas station in Paterson, NJ that he co-owned with his brother-in-law Jack Green, Murray retired by working full-time at Benny’s Luncheonette in Fair Lawn, NJ, forming close friendships with colleagues and customers.
