The Jewish Community Relations Committee of the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey held its monthly Legislative Advocacy Day on February 14, meeting with Assemblyman and Deputy Speaker Gary S. Schaer, a Democrat who represents Legislative District 36.

Schaer is the first Orthodox Jew to serve in the New Jersey Legislature.
The JCRC of the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey is planning to meet with legislators from a single district in its catchment area each month. Small groups will meet with the legislators face-to-face to advocate for key issues affecting the community and the state of New Jersey.
“It was great discussing with Assemblyman Schaer the Jewish Federation’s top priorities that are of concern for kids, adults, and seniors,” Ariella Noveck said.
