I’ve been following the many letters about the cost of day-school education and wanted to bring to your attention a solution that is working well in the greater Boston area. A number of years ago, a group of parents who wanted to ensure that their children could get the best of both worlds – public school education with all its choices and diversity, as well as a quality Jewish education – formed an after-school program called Kesher. The program now covers seven cities/towns in the greater Boston area, including Cambridge, Newton, and Needham. Students are picked up by bus from their schools and brought to the after-school program, where they learn Hebrew and Jewish subjects. For more information, here is the URL for the program: http://www.kesherweb.org.
