The Moriah School

Dear Moriah Family,
The world stands upon three things: on Torah study, on the service of G-d and on kind deeds.
This week has been one of great sadness both in the world and Jewish communities. Along with people everywhere, we have been listening to news reports about the terrible natural disasters in Japan as well as the tragedy to the Fogel family in Israel.
In our ongoing effort to educate our children and teach them a constructive and meaningful response to tragedy, we have planned two upcoming projects which will address the three components of Torah, avodah and gemilut chasadim. To help in the rescue efforts and provide for the myriad of needs in Japan, we are launching a tzedakah campaign involving all students in grades 3-8. We ask that each student please bring in $1 which will be forwarded to the UJA-NNJ Japanese Disaster Relief Fund. For students in grades 3-5, money will be collected by their Jewish Studies teachers, and by Safah teachers in grades 6-8.
We will commemorate the shloshim of the Fogel family by dedicating our school wide learning on that day to their memory. More information will follow as the date gets closer.
And, as always, we will continue to recite tehillim in our minyanim and classrooms for the welfare of Am Yisrael and the world at large.
We hope to have 100% participation as we do our part to assist in this effort, helping to strengthen the world with Torah study, prayer and acts of loving kindness.
May the holiday of Purim help us move from a period of overwhelming sadness to a time of abundant joy.
