This last Monday evening at Temple Beth Rishon in Wyckoff, the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning graduated its latest class. The students varied in ages and backgrounds, but they all shared a desire to learn as much as they can about the purposes of being Jewish.

We applaud the consortium of synagogues and the North Jersey Board of Rabbis for helping this communally vital program to continue. We applaud especially the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey, which once again on Monday set itself firmly in Melton’s corner. And we especially applaud the efforts of Melton’s administrator, Frieda Hershman Huberman, who once again saw her endless hours of work pay off as graduate after graduate marched onto the bimah to receive his or her certificate.
