If you have been following the Israeli “submarine affair” scandal, in which leading businessman and officials close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are being implicated in corruption regarding a multibillion-dollar government contract to buy submarines from Germany, you may have been asking yourself: How do these new submarines fit into the history of Israel’s underwater navy?

Luckily for you, the Israeli Post Office is releasing a series of stamps delving just into that topic: A salute to three different Israeli submarines entered into Israeli service over the decades.

Israelis feeling outraged by the scandal and compelled to mail a letter to a legislator or newspaper in protest do have another stamp option, issued the same day, that might be appropriate: a series devoted to Israeli snakes.
